How do I join FAMM Ltd?
At the moment, membership of FAMM Ltd. is restricted to those who are members of a group of, preferably but not essentially, ten or more. Partly, this is due to insurance considerations. This may change in the future as part of our revue.
Groups exist in many parts of Australia. Their names are as varied as their origins: there are clubs, associations and groups. See the listing of member groups under the "Clubs" dropdown menu.
But whatever the name, these gatherings exist for one reason -- they are filled with people with a passion for movie-making! So, should you consider joining one? What if you don't like the "style"? Well, don't just stand there, change it! Seriously, most groups have room for any style. Even if present members happen not to make movies your way, there is room for everyone. Movie-making is a very personal thing after all, so don't be shy if your approach is different. You will soon find people who will appreciate and probably assist you where needed.
And don't forget, these groups are a great place to keep up with changing technology, share ideas and experiences, raise crews and generally experience that interaction that is so necessary but so difficult as a lone worker. As an extra bonus, some groups have equipment that you can hire and also do such things as provide instruction at a price you can't beat. Usually free!
If you are in an area that has no movie-making group, why not start one? You need only ten people to register. In any case, contact FAMM Ltd. and we shall do what we can to help. You have absolutely nothing to lose.
